The International Postgraduate Research Graduate scholarships (IPRS) program enables international Student who have completed undergraduate programs to undertake a postgraduate research qualification in Australia and gain experience with leading Australian researchers.  The graduate scholarships are towards a Masters by research degree or Doctorate Degree at eligible Universities in Australia.

Around 330 are awarded annually.

Target group:

Graduate scholarships are open to international Student who have completed undergraduate programs of all countries (except New Zealand).

Benefits of this Scholarship

The graduate scholarship covers tuition fees and health cover costs for graduate scholarship holders, and health cover costs for their dependents. The graduate scholarships are available for a period of two years for a research masters degree or three years for a research doctorate degree. 

Who are Eligible:

To be eligible to apply for an IPRS the applicant must be an international Student who have completed undergraduate program (except New Zealand) and commencing full-time enrollment in a higher degree by research at an eligible Australian University in Australia. The basic eligibility criteria for an IPRS are listed in section 3.10.1 of the Commonwealth Graduate scholarships Guidelines (Research) 2012.

How to Apply

Applications for a graduate scholarship need to be made directly to a participating Universities/Higher Education Providers (HEPs) in Australia at which the applicant wishes to conduct their postgraduate research. Student who have completed undergraduate programs need to approach the graduate scholarship office at their chosen Australian University for direction about the process to apply for an IPRS and key deadline dates.  The deadline varies among universities but is around May-October each year.
